On September 18, 2020, Shell Polymers and the Pittsburgh Steelers partnered together to distribute food and other disaster relief supplies at the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC).

Leveraging its long-time partnership with the Steelers, Shell Polymers obtained a truckload of food and other supplies from the national arm of Convoy of Hope. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Convoy of Hope1 has distributed millions of meals to hundreds of communities across the nation as part of its “Beyond 10 Million Meals” initiative.

Drive-thru distribution began at 9 a.m. and remained open until supplies ran out using a no-contact process, where volunteers observed CDC and state health guidelines and recommendations.

Former Steelers defensive players Arthur Moats and Chris Hoke volunteered at the food drive. In the official team press release, Chris Hoke commented, "Over the years this area has been so wonderful to me and my family. When you feel gratitude and appreciation, you always want to give back and help. That is where my heart is, having a desire to help those going through difficult times right now because of the pandemic and the situation we are in right now.”

Moats elaborated, "When you think about everything that is going on, and especially the people that haven't been able to get back on their feet because of the pandemic, any time you are able to lend a helping hand, whether it's your resources or your time, you want to jump at the opportunity. Especially right now when there is so much uncertainty with everything that is going on. You want to at least be able to take that pressure off of people to have the resources they need."
